Seven days. That's the whole life of a cherry blossom.
And the flowers open before the leaves, so for that one week the tree is nothing but flower. Then it becomes an ordinary tree again for eleven and a half months.
We stitched it at its peak. Hundreds of blossoms, every one open, on black denim that gives them nowhere to hide. The branch pushes past the pocket edge and onto the leg, still growing, still not finished.

Built on 15 oz washed black denim, cut wide and relaxed with a below-knee length. Heavy enough to hold its own shape through the fall rather than draping soft — the volume comes from the pattern, not the weight of the cloth.
Curved panel seams run from hip through the side, which is what stops a wide leg from reading shapeless. The line is structural.
The left back pocket carries a cherry blossom in full flower — hundreds of individual blossoms worked in three grades of pink through to white, on gold-brown branchwork that begins at the side seam and opens across the pocket. Each blossom is stitched as its own cluster rather than filled as a mass, which gives the canopy density up close and scatter at distance. The branch doesn't respect the pocket edge; it runs out past the seam onto the side panel, so the pocket reads as a window onto something larger.
