Delhi Gate

Delhi Gate is one of the surviving gates of the Walled City of Lahore, built facing east toward the city it was named for. Walk through it and the Shahi Guzargah begins — the route the Mughal court took into the old city, now a working bazaar with the hammam at its mouth and Wazir Khan's mosque a few hundred metres down.

The front is a door. Just a door, drawn in thread — the kind still hanging in those lanes, carved, painted, cracked at the base.

The back is what's behind it. Shopfronts, a cart, men sitting where they always sit, and the arch at the end of the street. It can be seen there is a "Faani ki Baithak" which takes reference from the oldest coffee shop in androon Lahore named "Usman ki Baithak"

یہ دنیا فانی ہے — stitched across the top, where the sky would be.

Crafted from 250 GSM cotton terry, this tee delivers a heavyweight yet breathable structure designed for everyday wear. The oversized silhouette with drop shoulders creates a relaxed streetwear fit while maintaining a clean, premium drape.

The front is built almost entirely in outline — a carved wooden door, its brick threshold, the crack running up the wall beside it — rendered in fine orange linework so the stitch reads as drawing rather than fill. Above it, فانی sits in raised puff embroidery, the only dimensional element on the panel.

The back carries the full scene: shopfronts, a vendor's cart, figures seated in the street, and the arched gateway with its flanking minarets. Built with over [stitch count] stitches across both panels and roughly [hours] hours of embroidery per piece.

To improve comfort, a reinforced internal fusing layer is placed behind the embroidery, reducing irritation and keeping the piece wearable despite the dense stitchwork.
